Show HN: Chrome extension to save jobs from LinkedIn and Indeed to Sheets Hey HN - I built a Chrome extension that adds a button to LinkedIn, Indeed, and Lever to autosave the job's title, company, and link in a Google Sheet so you can organize all your job applications in one location. I used to open a bunch of tabs to apply for jobs that I never ended up applying to bc I was either lazy or it got too messy to keep track of. AKA I never went back to that tab again The job hunt is stressful enough / it's easy to get discouraged when Chrome loads 50 tabs for LinkedIn and Indeed postings that have expired when you finally get to it. I figured I'd try to build something to make the process simpler. The extension has really helped me navigate my own job search. (BTW it got approved by the Chrome store yesterday ). I wanted to share it with anyone looking for a simple and beneficial tool. What's great about this extension: - It's free forever - just trying to help people find a job - No sign up needed - works with your Google account - Saves job postings directly to Google Sheets - You can customize and edit the spreadsheet however you want - Integrates with LinkedIn, Indeed and Lever - Adds a button on the website - no more switching between tabs or copy/paste I hope this helps at least a few people with their job search :) If you do try it, I'd love to hear your thoughts on how it can be improved! https://ift.tt/7YfVlzB July 15, 2022 at 12:27AM

Show HN: Interactive exercises for GNU grep, sed and awk Hello! For the past few months, I've been using a Python framework called Textual to create TUI apps for interactive exercises. Released the app for GNU awk earlier today, so thought I'd create a post here. If you already know how to manage Python packages, you can use the following command to get all the three apps: pip install grepexercises sedexercises awkexercises `pipx` should also work, but I haven't tested it. The GitHub repo has the source code as well as more detailed installation instructions. You can use alternative CLI tools to solve these exercises as well. For example, Perl instead of GNU awk or ripgrep instead of GNU grep and so on. Hope you find these TUI apps useful. I'd highly appreciate your feedback. I've worked in this space since the very early days (think SSLv2), always frustrated with the fact that the field is vast but the documentation poor. That first led me to create SSL Labs (which ended up being very popular) and then the first edition of my book (in 2014), where I aimed to cover everything a curious person needed to know about SSL/TLS and PKI. Most importantly, it's a very practical book that you can use to just learn what you need at that moment. The second edition (just out) adds coverage of TLS 1.3.
