Show HN: Rio – Open Source Web Apps in Pure Python, No JS/HTML/CSS Needed Hey HN, Over the past 10 months, my friends and I created an open source project called Rio to help Python developers build modern web apps without needing HTML, CSS, or JavaScript. Whether you're working on a simple internal tool or a complex multi-page app, Rio lets you stay in the Python ecosystem without needing to learn frontend frameworks. With Rio, the UI is defined using Python components, inspired by React and Flutter. Instead of writing HTML/CSS, you compose reusable UI elements in Python and let Rio handle rendering and state updates. The backend and frontend stay seamlessly connected using WebSockets, so data syncs automatically without manual API calls. Since Rio is fully Python-native, you can integrate it with any Python library, from data science tools to AI models. Many Python projects rely on popular libraries like React internally, but the core benefits and elegance of these libraries are often diluted in the process. Unlike wrapper frameworks, Rio is built from scratch, offering a cleaner, faster, and more efficient development experience specifically for Python. Twin Peaks for All: Survey Results By Benjamin Barnett Last month, the SFMTA and San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department released a survey seeking public feedback regarding  five proposed roadway options for Twin Peaks Boulevard . San Franciscans responded to the survey, ranked support for each alternative and shared opinions about how the different options met their needs.  The Twin Peaks for All survey was open for almost three weeks and received more than 1,700 responses. Welcoming Back the M Ocean View and 31 Balboa By Kate McCarthy The M Ocean View will return to rail service and resume its full pre-pandemic route in August As August 14 approaches, the target date for the next big Muni service change, the SFMTA is pleased to announce Muni’s M Ocean View will be returning to rail service and the 31 Balboa will be returning to service with a temporarily adjusted route. We thank Supervisors Melgar, Safai, Preston and Haney for their advocacy for the return of this service on behalf of their constituents. The addition of the 31 Balboa and return of the M Ocean View to rail service was made possible following improved clarity on our staffing levels this fall. We had previously forecast that due to an abnormally low level of retirements during the pandemic, we would see a spike at the start of the fiscal year (July 1) when many staff tend to announce their retirements.
